Kyong Suk Chai

Dr. Kyong Suk "Ken" Chai, 88, of Little Rock, died peacefully at home on July 18, 2017, his 58th wedding anniversary. Born in South Korea, he was conscripted by the North Korean army when the Korean War broke out in 1950, while he was in medical school at Severance Union Medical College in Seoul. He escaped, completed medical school in 1954 and immigrated to Canada in 1955, where he married Shirley Bullock in 1959. He was board-certified in radiology and nuclear medicine and worked in the Veterans Administration hospital system for many years. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, children Stuart, Dr. Sandra and Denise Chai and their spouses, Dana, Dr. John Brineman and Mark Mulkerin, respectively, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral service and reception will take place at St. Michael's Episcopal Church at 12415 Cantrell Road in Little Rock at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 29.
