Ollie Akins

Mrs. Ollie Mae Akins, 91 of Little Rock, Arkansas, was born to the late Mathis and Vider Paylor in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Surrounded by her children and grandchildren she made her transition home on Sunday morning May 28, 2017, to forever be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, son Robert L. Smith, brother, Columbus Paylor Sr., three sisters, Mae Rina Paylor, Nellie M. Edwards and Ersie M. McClendon , grandson Jimmy Smith Jr. Stepchildren ,Elmer Akins Jr and Elsie Mae Akins. Mrs. Akins was an Avon Lady for over 40 years. She loved jigsaw puzzles, was an avid reader and loved the daily paper. She was a lover of music, especially the hymns of the church. Above all she loved the Lord and her church, Conner Chapel AME/Rufus K. Young Christian Church, where she was an active, faithful and chartered member until death. Left to carry on her legacy and cherish her memories are her son and daughter in- love, Jimmy and Douretta Smith, Chicago, Ill.; daughter, Shirley Moore, Little Rock, Ark., daughter in- love, Gloria Smith, Chicago, Ill.; brother in-love, James Akins, Little Rock, Ark.; five stepchildren, 20 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a lovely host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special relations. All services will be held at Rufus K. Young Christian Church, 2100 South Main Street, LR, Arkansas. Family hour will be Friday from 6-7 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 4, 2017, 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at #25 Serenity Drive.
