Patsy Juanita Bolding-Goodman

Patsy Juanita Bolding-Goodman was born August 31st, 1931 in Yantis, Wood County, Texas to Tommie Eugene Bolding and Willie Mae McDaniel Bolding. She grew up in Sulphur Springs, Texas, where her grandmother, Emma Caroline Walton Bolding, and great-grandmother Mary Lancaster Bolding, had a very large influence on her. She took wonderful care of her little brother Dub (William Marcus Bolding). She used to say her favorite memories were riding on top of the cotton wagon to town once a month with her Dad. He would always treat her to ice cream after the cotton was delivered. During high school, her family moved to LaPorte, Texas. She briefly went back to Sulphur Springs to live with her Aunt Addie, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She eventually graduated from LaPorte High School after the 11th grade. Her father did not believe in college for women, however, Patsy, did graduate from a secretarial business program. She liked to tell the story of how she met her husband, Bill Goodman. She was working as the ticket clerk at the movie theater in LaPorte for MY Bill's uncle Charlie Waters. One day Bill stopped by the theater to visit his uncle and saw this very pretty, petite, blonde, 17-year-old girl in the ticket booth. He asked if she would go out with him, and she said, "you have to buy a ticket to come in and ask me." They were married on June 18th, 1949. Patsy worked a variety of jobs, from secretarial work, to sales, to owning a chicken farm with her husband Bill. Bill passed away September 24th, 1992. She had been a Cub Scout leader, Brownie and Girl Scout leader, president of PTA, president of Band Parents Association, Secretary of the Texas Educational Secretary Association, and Mother Advisor of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls. Patsy was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, (past Matron, Grand Martha) and Daughters of the Nile (past Queen). Patsy and Bill have two children, Tommie Russell (Rusty) Goodman (wife, Deborah), and Rhonda Lynn Goodman (husband, James Lesniak). Patsy leaves six beloved grandchildren (Melissa, Dan, Taylor, Matt, Tess, and Jordan) and six great-grandchildren (Jadyn, Simon, Charlee, Braden, Cole, and Ruth). Her homemade fudge and pecan pralines were legendary among her children and grandchildren, who all have amazing stories about this dynamic woman. Patsy was a tough and determined fighter and fought the effects of Parkinson's Disease until the end of her life. She passed into the Lord's arms on March 20th, 2017. Donations in her memory may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children. Service to be held at Benton County Memorial Park's mausoleum Monday, June 5th at 1 p.m.
