Robert Anton Swaty

Robert Anton Swaty, born October 2, 1920 in Swaty, Arkansas, passed away May 22, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Jenny Louise Couny; sons, John, Bob and Danny; daughter, Linda; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and his brother and sister-in-law, Charles R. and Margaret Swaty. He served during WWII in Patton's Third Division in the Signal Corps as a Sergeant. He attended LSU for two years, and received his BSE from Henderson. He earned his MA in French at the University of Houston, and also attended the Sorbonne in Paris, France. Robert taught French at Central High School from 1959-1984. He spent his retirement gardening, reading, traveling and enjoying his grandchildren. Among his travels was a trip to Normandy, France to celebrate the 50th anniversary of D-Day in 1995, and trips to Great Britain, Austria, Slovenia and throughout France.
