DeWitt "Wendell" Roark, 81 of Fordyce died Sunday June 4, 2017, at Monticello. He was born Jan. 5, 1936, to the late DeWitt Alvin Roark and Lennie McMurry Roark Tuberville. Wendell was a faithful member, deacon, and former Sunday School Teacher at Beech Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Fordyce. He was the manager of First Federal Savings and Loan in Fordyce for 31 years. Wendell loved going to the Senior Citizen's Center for lunch and bingo, then playing dominoes at the Fordyce Civic Center. He was also known as the "Tomato Man" for 21 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Alan Roark; granddaughter, Faith Roark; two brothers, Raymond Roark and Phil Roark; and sister, Betty Brown. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janice Roark of Fordyce; daughter, Janine Eubanks and her husband, Darren of the Possum Valley Community; daughter-in love, Julie Roark of Jonesboro; brother, Thomas Winfred Roark of Texarkana, Texas; six grandchildren, Caleb Eubanks, Lindee Eubanks Watkins and her husband, Harrison, Trenton Eubanks, Grace Roark, Alex Roark, and Merrick Roark. The family will receive friends Sunday June 11, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. There will be a celebration of life at 10 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2017, at Beech Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Stoney Point Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alan Roark Memorial Scholarship Fund at Beech Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
