Joe F. Lackie

Joe F. Lackie left this earth for his heavenly home Sunday, June 11, 2017 with his family by his side. He was born October 12, 1934 in Lonoke, Arkansas and was raised in the Brownsville Community. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Alice Lackie; sisters, Floy Mae Brock and Dorothy Graves. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maxine Jones Lackie; children, Joe Wayne (Tami) Lackie, Donna (Jackie) Moore, Judy (Dean) Smith, and Danny (Laura) Lackie; sisters, Evelyn Peterson of Appomattox, Va., and Janetta Lott of Hazen; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Joe was a life- long mechanic in Lonoke and worked for Joe Royal Chevrolet and many years at Melton Motor Company. He proudly served many years on the Lonoke Volunteer Fire Department, also as assistant Fire Chief and as Fire Chief. He was a member of Lonoke Masonic Lodge #51. He enjoyed many years of camping and fishing and also long walks in the afternoon with his wife. The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.
