Glennis Rosemary Williford Stout

Glennis Rosemary Williford Stout of Elkins, went to her home in Heaven, Thursday, June 15, 2017 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was 90 years old. Glennis was born October 19, 1926 to Raymond and Sadie Thompson Williford at Snake Branch, Durham, Arkansas. She attended Durham School and played on the girls basketball team. She often recalled how the team traveled to other nearby schools in the back of an old truck to play on dirt floor ball courts. She had a passion for basketball the rest of her life. Glennis married Virgil Stout on November 7, 1943. They were blessed with 60 years of marriage until his death in 2003. Glennis and her sister, Jean, spent many hours sewing handmade, hand quilted quilts then selling them in Eureka Springs and giving them to family. Quilting, embroidery, traveling and most of all attending and cheering on her grand/great-grandchildren in sports events, were the things she loved to do most. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil Stout; brother, Ray Dean (Bud) Williford; and her sister, Imogene (Jean) Williford Karr. Glennis is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Larry Downing of Elkins; her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Barbara Stout of Elkins; seven grandchildren, Shane (Tiffany) Stills, Shawn (Nikki) Stills, Misty (Jeremy) Parker, Angelia Smith, Jamie (Amanda) Coleman, Jason Stout and Kristy Stout; 20 great-grandchildren, Blake, Lauren, Eric, Derek, Cole, Clint, Ty, Asa, Cash, Dani, Brian, Garret, Kaylie, Allison, Claire, Kally, Keely, Hayden, Alex and Zaidyn; one great-great-grandchild, Lynnlee Rose, due in September 2017; a sister, Jackie Williford Hankins of Fayetteville; and seven nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10 a.n. Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Crystal Hills Family Fellowship Church in Elkins with Reverend Jasper Hankins officiating. Interment will follow in McCord Cemetery under the direction of Beard's Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the funeral home.
