Charles Edward Nugent

Charles Edward Nugent of Camden, went home to his Lord peacefully in his sleep on June 21, 2017. He was born in Pine Bluff on October 11, 1932 to Alvin and Maude Nugent, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him were his sister, Lillian Hagan and brother, Buddy Snell. Charles married his best friend and childhood sweetheart, Jeannie Elizabeth Bottom (Betty) on July 15, 1950 in Pine Bluff and moved to Camden in 1952. Known to many as "Hot", he worked as a milkman for Ouachita Valley Dairy for many years and was known by most Camden residents for his friendly smiling face. He later worked for and retired from Mosley Candy and Tobacco. For many years, he attended Bell Chapel Methodist Church. Charles was a man of strong faith, a great example to all who knew him, and will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by Betty, his wife of almost 67 years; his son, Charles Nugent, Jr (Tanya) of Mabelvale; his daughter, Jeannie Adkins, grandchildren, Chris Adkins (Natasha) and Kelly Adkins – all of Greenbrier; his granddaughter, Friedl Nugent of California; great granddaughter, Lainey Adkins of Greenbrier. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 25 at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden, preceded by visitation at 1 p.m. There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 26 at Memorial Park Cemetery in White Hall.
