JEAN FLEMING passed away peacefully on June 22, 2017. Jean was born Frances jean Wood on Aug. 24, 1923 in Springdale, Ark., the youngest of six children. After attending Springdale High, she entered the University of Arkansas, Law School, where she met her future husband, Bill Fleming. Jean and Bill were married for more than 50 years and had three children, Matthew, Fred and Anne. Jean is survived also by daughter-in-law Denise Fleming, son-in-law Tom Lee, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her law studies, Jean was a natural-born teacher and found her calling teaching American History at North Little Rock from 1957 through 1972, then providing vocational guidance at Little Rock Vocational Technology Institute. Jean was a devoted member of Levy Baptist Church for many years, serving as a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School leader, as well as a member of the Pastor's Nominating Committee. Jean's hobbies included needlepoint, reading, and traveling. Her family treasures the many happy memories of her as a loving, humor-filled, and wise Mom. Special thanks to her many wonderful caretakers of Elmcroft Assisted Living in Maumelle. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Levy Baptist Church, 3501 Pike Ave. in North Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jean's memory to Levy Baptist Church, 3501 Pike Ave., North Little Rock, Ark. 72118, or to Alzheimer's Arkansas, 201 Markham Center Drive, Little Rock, Ark. 72205.
