James Hugh Walker, age 78, of Winslow, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017. He was born on June 6, 1939, in Crosses, Ark., to Eber and Nora Shackelford Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Tommy, Billy, Jerry, and Junior Walker. James was a loving husband and father who could always be found lending a helping hand to everyone he met. He was a mechanic, as well as a chicken and cattle farmer by trade. He was the owner of The Walker Garage for several years. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Elkins fire department for many years and was the chief of the Sunset fire department. James is survived by his loving wife, Carol Walker of the home; his two sons, Preston Walker and wife Janet of Elkins, and Vincent Walker of the home; one brother, Jack Walker; four sisters, Alice Hershberger, Dolores Gorley, Doris Rieff and husband Raymond, and Dorothy Brown; four grandchildren, Ashleigh Hutsell and husband Dane, Daniel Walker, David Keck and wife Amy, and Todd Keck with Shyla Foster; five great-grandchildren, Raelynn Hutsell, Sadie Hutsell, Landon Keck, Brinkley Wilson, and Sawyer Keck; and many good friends and neighbors. A visitation will be held from 5–7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Moore's Chapel Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Brannon Mountain Church, Madison County, Ark. Interment to follow at Brannon Mountain Cemetery.
