Lynnette Van Dusen Collums of Bee Branch, Ark., passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017. She was born in Malvern, Ark. on April 5, 1923, to the late Clyde and Alma Van Dusen. Lynnette graduated from Malvern High School in 1941. The Van Dusen family owned a veneer mill in Malvern. Lynnette often talked of spitting nails to make veneer baskets to help support the family during the depression. Lynnette attended the University of Arkansas and it was there that she met her future husband, Layne Collums. She earned a BSE in Home Economics from Arkansas State Teachers College, now UCA. Lynnette was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Grand Matron of Arkansas in 1972. She served on the Arkansas State 4-H Board and was chairman of the Bee Branch Cemetery Board for many years. Lynnette was a supporter of Ozark Health Medical Center and gave children's Bibles to the literacy program, A Bookcase for Every Child. She was a member of Bee Branch Baptist Church serving as pianist, organist and teacher. Lynnette taught Home Economics at South Side School in Bee Branch. She liked to do all types of handwork and won several awards. She loved flowers and enjoyed working in her yard. Lynnette was an international tour guide for Dan Dipert Tours. She was a staunch supporter of the Arkansas Razorbacks since 1942. Lynnette watched Razorback football, basketball, and baseball until her last days. She would never leave a game no matter what the score or the weather conditions. Lynnette is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Layne Collums; one son, Layne Eugene Collums Jr.; two brothers, Clyde Erwin and Milton; and a sister, Sarah. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Nancy Green (Doug) of Bee Branch and Jill Starkey (Randy) of Springdale; one son, Jim Collums (Lana) of Bartlett, Tenn.; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Collums of Harrison; 11 grandchildren, Jodi Owen of Vernon, Texas, LeAnn Thomsen (Chris) of Fort Worth, Texas, Ken Collums (Robyn) of Abilene, Texas, Brad Green (Lucy) of Evans, Ga., Corey Green of Statesboro, Ga., Joseph Green (Sarah) of Millington, Tenn., Natalie Nicholson (Daniel) of Little Rock, Zachary Nicholson (Kristen) of Little Rock, Jacob Nicholson (Alicia) of Conway, Shanna Reidel (Jeremy) of Fayetteville, and Cole Collums (Evelia) of Yuma, Ariz.,; 11 great-grandchildren, Molli, Ben and Jaci Owen of Vernon, Texas, Anna and Layne Collums of Abilene, Texas, Gavin Nicholson of Little Rock, Maggie Green of Evans, Ga., Haili, Rufus, and Taylor Reidel of Fayetteville, and Alexandria Collums of Yuma, Ariz.; one sister, Juanita Efird of Malvern; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Visitation will be from 6–8 p.m. on Monday June 26, 2017 at the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton. Services will be held at the Bee Branch Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 10 a.m. with Reverend Sam Brown and Reverend Craig Golden officiating. Interment will follow at Bee Branch Cemetery. Pallbearers include Ken Collums, Brad Green, Corey Green, Joseph Green, Zachary Nicholson and Jacob Nicholson.
