Thelma Hendrix Henderson

Thelma Mae Hendrix Henderson, age 90, of DeWitt stepped out of this life into eternity March 4, 2017. She was born January 8, 1927 in Jonesboro, Ark., to Elsie A. Hendrix and Rosie Bobbite Hendrix Poor. She was a homemaker and member of Forks of LaGrue Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Henderson; parents; four brothers, Calvin Hendrix, Pete Hendrix, Junior Poor, and D.D. Poor; sister, Mildred Cupples; and son-in-law, James (Bo) Collins. She is survived by one sister, Hazel Hamm (Michale) of Lonoke; one sister-in-law, Alice Hendrix of Almyra; five daughters, Martha Collins of DeWitt, Willie Howard (Eddie) of Las Vegas, Nev., Dorthy Plant of Little Rock, Jean Mannis (Rick) of DeWitt, and Tommie Jo Mannis (Steven)of DeWitt; one son, John A. Henderson (Brenda) of DeWitt; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She also had many that called her grandmother that were not related to her. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 7 at Essex Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 8 at Forks of La Grue Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Thompson Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home.
