Joan Hampton

Joan Hampton, 84, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Cabot Nursing Home and Rehab after a battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Vinita, Oklahoma on September 26, 1932 to the late Russell Warhurst and Hazel Johnson. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Robert Hampton and her son Robert Jr. Joan loved caring for pets and raising them. She also enjoyed gardening and watching birds. In her younger years, she worked at a radio station in Oklahoma City and was an accomplished guitar player. She wrote and recorded country songs… singing with various country artists at the time. She is survived by her children, Linda Lowery (Ken) of Cabot, Matthew Hampton (Paula) of Cabot, and Daniel Hampton (Gina) of Burr Ridge, Illinois; grandchildren, Dakota Hampton, Daniel Robert Hampton, Michael Ryan, John David Stivers, Stephen Stivers and Scott Stivers, along with numerous cousins and friends. Her sweet, sweet spirit will be missed by all. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, with the Funeral Service immediately following at 12 p.m. Interment will be at Sumner Cemetery.
