Lois McDoniel Sample

Lois McDoniel Sample, age 89, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday March 7, 2017 in El Dorado, Arkansas in the care of John Williamson Hospice House. Lois was born on August 20, 1927 in Black Oak, Arkansas to the late E.T. McDoniel and Bertha Cleghorn McDoniel. Lois attended college at Georgetown in Kentucky. She worked as a teacher in both Earle and Highland, Arkansas. She was also a choir director and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church of Cherokee Village, Arkansas and First Baptist Church of Hardy, Arkansas. Lois is survived by her sons Danny (wife Pat) Sample and Joey (fiance Sarah) Sample, daughter Jeannie (husband John) Strother, brother John McDoniel, sisters Mary Taylor and Sue McDoniel, grandchildren Chris Sample, Brooks Sample, Lindsey Brietz, Jordan Sample, Allyson Luethy, John Patrick Strother, Lance Strother, and seven great-granchildren. A visitation will be held Thursday, March 9, 2017 beginning at 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Wortham Funeral Home & Cremation Oak Hill Chapel located in Highland, Arkansas. A service will be held Friday March 10, 2017 beginning at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hardy, Arkansas. Brother Larry Kendrick and Johnny Carter will be officiating the service. Music will be lead by Mary Scott, Buena Rolli, Andria Gleghorn and Sarah Roark. Interment will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery located in Highland, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to First Baptist Church of Hardy, Arkansas or John Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado, Arkansas.
