Charlie Stan Stanford

Charlie "Stan" Stanford passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the age of 80. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Eddie. Charlie, the son of O.W. and Pearl Stanford, was born on Aug. 20, 1936 in Las Vegas, N.M. He was a resident of Destin, Fla., for 60 years. Charlie is survived by his wife, Esther of 57 years; daughters, Jacqueline (Douglas) of Destin, Michelle (David) of Destin; sisters, Mary of Texas, Josephine of Arkansas, Betty Lou of Texas and brother, Paul of Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Misty, Shannon, Chloe, Tessa, David, Gybe, Jennifer and Tack; four great grandchildren, Adia, Reilly, Westin, Avery as well as many other close family members. After graduating Decatur High School, he served in the US Air Force as an air traffic controller for eight years. After leaving the Air Force he returned to Destin and spent many years cooking on a local fishing boat, "Her Majesty II". A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 27, 2017.
