Stanley Monroe Stanton

Stanley Monroe Stanton (Stan), age 83, of Heber Springs, Ark., passed away March 9, 2017. He was born in Heber Springs, Ark., on Aug. 5, 1933. His parents were Rawleigh and Ruby Lee Stanton of Heber Springs, Ark. He was born second to the oldest of four brothers and one sister. He lived in California and Arkansas growing up. Stan joined the Army in 1953 and was sent to Germany. He married his High School sweetheart Doris Jean Treadway Stanton in 1954. They were married for 63 years, having two children, Tina Stanton Paul and Scott Stanton and one grandchild Daniel Jeffrey Paul. He entered State Teacher's College (UCA) attaining a B.S.E. in History/Geography as well as a minor in Physical Education in 1960. After college he became the football coach at Carruthersville, Mo., and later the High School Football Coach at Heber Springs High School in Heber Springs, Arkansas. He also taught History, Geography and Drivers Education. During his years he also drove a bus transporting students to and from school as well as school functions. During his career he taught many students and dedicated much time and patience to his pupils who all referred to him affectionately as "Coach". Stan is survived by his wife Doris Jean, his two children Tina and Scott all of Heber Springs, Arkansas, his grandson Daniel of Little Rock, Ark., his sisters Patsy Stanton Langston of Heber Springs, Ark., and Cindy Stringfellow and her husband Dale of Rose Bud, Ark. He was faithful as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Stan is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers William Norman, James Rawleigh, Jack David and two brothers-in-law Jerry Langston and Jim Justus. He has left behind a host of family and friends. There will be a Memorial Service at the Heber Springs Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall on March 19, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. Many thanks to White River Area on Aging and Hospice for Making life more comfortable for Stan during his last days.
