Linda Ellington, 75, of Dermott, Arkansas passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born on November 28, 1941 in Sugarland, Texas to the late Houston Elmer Jackson, Sr. and Nina Mae Rhodes Jackson. Linda graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and received her master's degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She was a retired school teacher and taught for 38 years. Linda taught at Dermott Schools for 16 years and Pulaski County Schools for 22 years. She was a member of the National Education Association, past Secretary and Vice-President of Arkansas Education Association. Linda was on the board of York Williams Foundation and a volunteer at the Clinton President's Library. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Pickard Ellington; sister, Ann Welch; brothers, H.E. Jackson and Tommie Crawford Jackson. Survivors include her sons, David Rafe Ellington and his wife, Shannon of Pine Bluff, Ark. and Kim Reindl Ellington and his wife, Sharon of Jerome, Ark.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, Ark. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service Chapel in McGehee, Ark. with Rev. Larry Donaldson and Rev. John Compton officiating. Burial will be held at Dermott Cemetery in Dermott, Ark.
