Gerald W. "Skip" Hill, passed peacefully from this world on March 12, 2017 at the age of 75. He leaves behind a life defined by love — a faithful love for God, a devoted love of his family, and a fierce love for his Country. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert H. and Ruth Irene Hill, his sister Patty Ruth Hunter, and his brother Ronnie Hill. Skip is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Betty Sue Butler; daughter Melinda Sue Kimbrell; and son-in-law Larry Don Kimbrell Jr. Skip was a patriot and served his Nation with honor as an Airman in the United States Air Force from 1962 until his retirement as a Master Sergeant in 1982. He continued to serve his community in the American Legion as a member of the Criswell Robinson Post 71 of Cabot, Ark. He was also an avid golfer and never met a golf course he didn't have some time to play on. He loved his hat collection and his backyard birds, and will be greatly missed by the critters he always had time to feed. He was given the distinction of being an honorary Marine by the Marine Corps detachment for initial-accession students at Little Rock Air Force Base. From fishing trips to bowling and golfing, Skip was always ready to mentor and help the young Marines, and even played a convincing Santa Claus for the annual Christmas Party. Skip was a bold, generous and fearless soul, and though he is gone from our sight, he will always be in our hearts. Services for Skip Hill will be held graveside on Saturday, March 18, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Searcy at 1 p.m. A reception will follow at Southside Church of Christ, 21 Glennwood Road, Cabot at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Criswell Robinson American Legion Post 71. Arrangements are by Roller-Daniel Funeral Home. Online guestbook:www.rollerfuneralhomes.com.
