Martha Ann White Chambliss, 83, of Pine Bluff, died Saturday, March 18, 2017. She was born Sept. 30, 1933 in Pine Bluff, daughter of Charles H. and Haley Vinson White. Mrs. Chambliss was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1951. She worked at Leslie Brokerage Company and Arkansas Power and Light in Pine Bluff before marrying Daniel Lewis Chambliss in 1955. After her husband had been drafted into the Army, they lived on the Carswell Air Force Base in Ft. Worth, Texas. Returning to Pine Bluff, she joined her husband at Chambliss-Stratton Gin. She became an active volunteer with the Salvation Army Auxiliary, the Southeast Arkansas Chapter of the American National Red Cross, and Teen Town. She enjoyed square dancing, and was a talented golfer winning many awards, trophies, and plaques for her accomplishments. She was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. Mrs. Chambliss was preceded in death by her brother, Billy White; and her parents. Survivors include her husband; sons, Daniel Mark Chambliss (Lynn) of Pine Bluff, and Charles Lewis Chambliss (Theresa) of Mayflower; grandchildren, Mary Kate Chambliss Daugherty (Jason) of Fayetteville, John Daniel Chambliss of Fayetteville, Madison Chambliss and Bradley Chambliss of Mayflower, Jessica Chambliss Edrington (Richard) of New Orleans; great-grandchildren, Halle and Hendrix Daugherty of Fayetteville; step-grandchildren, Bentley Neikirk (Summer), Ginny Luffman (Scotty) and Leslie Bryant; two step-great-grandchildren, London and Abigail Neikirk; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, March 20, 2017 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Steve Wingo officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. at Robinson's. The family wishes to thank the staff of Sheridan Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for their love and care while she was a resident.
