Gregory Scott Robertson

GREGORY SCOTT ROBERTSON, 60, formerly of Little Rock, died February 24, 2017 at the Neurosciences Hospital at UNC - Chapel Hill. He is survived by his loving wife Ellen Robertson, his devoted daughters Erin Robertson, and Lindsey (Robert) Jenkins, all of Raleigh, N.C.; his mother Arlene Behmer and sister Mari Robertson Flemmons (Kenn) and nephew Geoffrey Flemmons, all of Little Rock; his sister-in law Helen Cognac (John), and nephew Andrew and niece Claire, all of Morgantown, West Virginia; his brother-in-law Mark Montonaro (Liz) of Atlanta, Ga. He also survived by an uncle, two aunts, many cousins and numerous friends from across the country who will miss his dry wit, droll sense of humor and his wise council. He was well loved by many people. Greg was born in Flint, Mich., July 5, 1956. He was a 1974 graduate of Hall High School in Little Rock where he was a member of the championship Warrior track team, which called itself the CROX. He kept in touch with many of the members of CROX and they often gathered for reunions. In 1978 he graduated with a degree in gerontology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He spent more than 30 years in the nursing home industry as a director and regional director throughout the states of Arkansas and North Carolina. He impacted in positive ways an untold number of clients in the homes where he served and as a mentor to those in the field. A sports fanatic, Greg spent many happy hours with his family preparing dinner on his grill and watching anything sports related in his outdoor man cave. He was particularly fond of the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Detroit Tigers, the Carolina Panthers and the Carolina Hurricanes. We suspect he will have the grill ready when we arrive to join him and we'll share a "Cheeseburger in Paradise." Another of his passions was sailing. He owned and captained a sailboat for many years and his family spent summers at "the boat." He was certified to sail in open waters and he and Ellen took trips to the British Virgin Islands among many other locations. He was a student of the world and loved traveling, especially to World Heritage Sites. His last trip to Spain was just months before he passed away. He even learned languages in preparation for some of his trips, including Russian so he could navigate in Moscow. A Memorial Service will be held April 1, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Shepherd of Peace Lutheran Church, 449 Millwood Circle, Maumelle, Ark. 72113. There will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall after the service for friends and family. Greg became interested in the work of Heifer International in Romania after visiting that country. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heifer International, 1 World Ave., Little Rock, Ark. 72202, or online at www.heifer.org, or a charity of your choice.
