Morice Darrell Crowder

Morice Darrell Crowder, 87, of Springdale, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Willard Walker Hospice Home. He was born Feb. 1, 1930 in Whittier, Calif., to Samuel Raymond and Bessie May (Proctor) Crowder. Morice began his military career in the Merchant Marines serving as a Junior Assistant Purser. He then enlisted in the Navy and served during the Korean War. He continued serving in the Army during the Vietnam War and worked in intelligence at the Pentagon. He retired as a Master Sergeant. Morice received his master's degrees in both English and as a psychological analyst. In later years he worked with the U.S. Forest Service where he was a Job Corp youth counselor. He was a longtime member of the Springdale American Legion Post 139. He is survived by four children, Eric Crowder of Yucaipa, Calif., Gregory Crowder of Tulsa, Cynthia Rooney of Siloam Springs, Amie Brown of Westville, Okla.; a sister, Dorothy Vance of California; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A private graveside service with military honors will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs. Arrangements are with Heritage Funeral Home, online guestbook at www.heritageofnwa.com.
