MAXINE RUTH FISHER went to be with her Lord on March 24, 2017. Born in Little Rock, Ark. on July 7, 1919, she was the daughter of Nina Ray and Lafeyette Bell. She and Roy, her beloved husband of 47 years, co-founded "Fisher's Cafe" in 1947. In 1958, the cafe became known as "Roy Fisher's Steak House" when they built a larger location at 1919 E. Broadway in North Little Rock. It was a favorite place to eat, meet, and greet "Cuz" for many people over the years. The couple worked tirelessly, side-by-side until his death in 1985. Maxine continued working with her son, Roy Dudley, and daughter-in-law, Chee Chee, until retiring in 2005. Maxine was an active member of Park Hill Baptist Church for many years. She treasured the fellowship with the ladies in her Sunday school class. A successful business woman, she was a member of the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce, the Women's Club of North Little Rock, and a very active member of the American Business Women's Association being named "Woman of the Year" in 1967. Maxine loved her family and her host of friends. She loved to travel and did so on many ABWA trips with her beloved sister, Mamie Ray Duff, and her husband, Ken. She had the pleasure of seeing the world in her travels and lived life to its fullest. Maxine made her home the gathering place for all of the family and friends to share in holidays, Sunday dinners, and family celebrations. She always opened her home to nieces, nephews, and granddaughters as a haven of love. Maxine is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Roy; daughter, Loretta Johnson; granddaughter, Dayna Johnson; three brothers, Ulys, Delton, and George Bell; two sisters, Ray Duff and Eloise Duncan; brother-in-law, Ken Duff; and special friend, Joe West. Those left to cherish her memory include her son whom she loved dearly, Roy Dudley; her daughter-in-law of 57 years, Chee Chee, whom she loved like a daughter; two very special daughters-in-love, Mattie Fisher Nisler and Cindy West; three granddaughters, Babette Baca (Gary), Denise Greenway (Bryan), and Kellie Smith (Lance); seven great-grandchildren, Kelsea Garner (Lynn), Royce Smith (Brenan), Courtney Osborn (Caleb), Ashton Deweese (Mickey), Olivia, Mary Scarlett and Bryan Greenway; four great-great-grandchildren, Preslea and Elliotte Ruth Garner, Wendell Osborn, Skylar Deweese; and two step-great-great grandchildren, Ethan and Gunnar Osborn; along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends. A special thanks to Maureen (Mo) Rink, Susan Nesbit, Liz Black, David Johnson, and Chelsea, her therapist, for your love, visits, support, and prayers. Also a special thank you to Elmcroft Senior Living for helping to make her final years comfortable and pleasant. Services will be on Wednesday, March 29 at Griffin-Leggett Rest Hills Park in Sherwood. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of Animals, #1 Championship Drive, North Little Rock, Ark. 72118 or Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 East C.
