Philip Andrew Jenders, age 89, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017. Philip was born on September 12, 1927 to Peggy Piechocki Jendrejas and George Jendrejas in the Marche, Arkansas community. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1947 stationed at the Naval Center in San Diego, Calif. and served on the USS Ajax and USS Benevolence and was part of the atomic bomb testing at Bikini Atoll. He was fondly referred to as "Tony" by his co-workers at Vestal & Sons where he was a principal grower for 40 years. He made the world a more colorful place growing his poinsettias, lilies, and a multitude of other flowers ready for gardens and holidays. He was known for his agricultural abilities and was the envy of the neighborhood for his lawn and garden. Family and friends would mention that his home grown tomatoes could not be matched. He was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church serving as a Eucharist Minister and visiting the sick. He was a humble and soft spoken man, a great father, and grandfather to his family. He taught his children by example with his genuine work ethic and responsibility. We will miss his smile and the love that he shared unconditionally with everyone in his family. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Knight Jenders, as well as brothers, Max and Herman Jenders; and sister Rose Nosal. He is survived by his children, Tony Jenders (Judy), Phyllis DeClerk (Tom) and Sue Balest (Phil); and one sister, Augustine Zajac; grandchildren Amanda Baugher, Thomas DeClerk III, Andrew DeClerk and Maria Gee; and three great-grandchildren. A special thanks to the many staff members at Stonehaven Assisted Living, Maumelle, Arkansas, as well as Baptist Hospice, Little Rock, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 1516 Parker Street, North Little Rock, Ark. 72114 or Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 7006 Jasna Gora Drive, North Little Rock, Ark., 72118. Mass and Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1516 Parker Street, North Little Rock, Ark. Entombment will follow at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery.
