Floyd "Bucky" Robbins

Floyd "Bucky' Robbins, 66, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., died on Monday, March 27, 2017. He was born on June 14, 1950, in Hot Springs, Ark., to the late Floyd and Jessie Mae (Simmons) Robbins. Bucky was employed in the transportation industry for 41 years, before retirement in 2009. He started his career as a driver in the late 1960s. His driving accomplishments include over 2 million accident-free miles. He transitioned into transportation safety in 1983. He was certified as a safety director from Michigan State University in 1985. Under his guidance, his previous company was named Safest Private Fleet three years in a row and the overall Grand Champion in the Arkansas fleet safety contest in 1989. He was on the Board of Director of the Arkansas Tucking Association and was the Chairman in 1991. His Walmart career started in November 1991. He made stops in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Texas, before returning to his home state of Arkansas in 1994 as a regional safety manager in the transportation Department. He was responsible for accident, DOT, and OSHA compliance at different distribution centers across the country. He was active in several state and national trucking associations. He was a two-time national chairman of the American Trucking Association National Truck Driving Championships. In retirement, he continued to share his safety knowledge with other professionals across the country. His knowledge will be greatly missed by many. Bucky was not only a mentor and a leader in the transportation industry, but to his family as well. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Ramona Robbins and his four children: daughters Maya McGeary and Jamie Robbins of Bella Vista, Ark.; sons Kyle Robbins and wife Amylia of Bella Vista, Ark., and Terry Anderson and wife Holly of Hot Springs Village, Ark; brother Tony Robbins of Rogers, Ark., sisters JoAnn Rodgers and Linda Nail; 15 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and many cherished nieces and nephews, other family, and friends. Honorary pallbearers Dr. James Byrom, Dr. Douglas Lee Marciniac, Dr. Vasili Lendel — With their care, expertise, and guided hand of the Lord, he cheated death many a time. A special mention to Garrett Goss Clinic and Walmart Corporate Private Fleet, and best friend since second grade, Ardy Tackett. Bucky was greatly loved and will be sorely missed. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. A celebration of Bucky's life will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Caruth Village Funeral Home, with Bro. Kevin McDaniel officiating.
