PENINA (NINA) KRUPITSKY, 92, of Little Rock died on Sunday, April 30, 2017. Born in Chernovitz, Romania, Nina was only 15 when the area was occupied by the USSR and 17 when she had to flee Nazi invaders. Nina was a Holocaust survivor and while serving as an interpreter during World War II, she met her husband of 64 years, Emmanuel. When she came to the USA, Nina started the Knowing Our Past Foundation, dedicated to teaching lessons of the Holocaust and other acts of intolerance. She was a caring and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who described her incredible journey in the book "The Broken Vase". She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Michael (Galina) Krupitsky of Little Rock; and her daughter, Asya (Bernard) Lewis of Dover, Del.; her grandchildren, Eugene (Darcy) Krupitsky, Daniel Krupitsky; David Lewis, Diana Lewis; great-grandchildren, Rylee, Eli and Caroline Krupitsky; and many friends, who all will miss her dearly. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, at Temple B'Nai Israel in Little Rock with Rabbi Barry Block officiating.
