J.L. "Bo" Ball, passed away with his family on the Lord's day, April 30, 2017. He was born on July 22, 1947, in Ruston, Louisiana, the fifth child of A.C. and Alice Faye Shockley Ball. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Bevelyn Ball Henry and Glenda Ball Belt. Bo graduated from Hope High School in Hope, Arkansas, in 1966. Two weeks later he married his childhood sweetheart. Soon after marriage, he was drafted into the United States army and proudly served his country. Bo earned a purple heart and was disabled in the Vietnam War. He was active in his community. His civic involvement included the JayCee's, Kiwanis Club, Hope in Action, Christian Clinic, leadership in youth church activities, and more than twenty years of officiating various sporting events from tee ball to college level baseball. His positive and enthusiastic presence in the community impacted countless people that he served. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Mary Jane O'Dell Ball; three sons, Lynn Ball and Jennifer of Fort Hood, Texas, Chad Ball and Kara of Farmington, and Aaron Ball Cura and Jesse of Fayetteville; six grandchildren, Braxton Ball, Avery Ball, Lauren Ball, Ashley Ball, Draven Cura, and Katelyn Cura; one sister, Dorothy Ball May of Hope; and one brother, Buddy Ball of El Dorado. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
