Margaret Renee Trammell died from ovarian cancer on April 30, 2017. The family was able to keep and care for her at home to the end, honoring a lifetime of her care for them. Renee had a transparent kindness to the common man. Her family was her life. She retained pride in her Louisiana roots after making a life with Robert in Arkansas. As a baby of older parents, her childhood was of another time riding horses through town or walking barefoot for ice cream. If a love of animals was a simple life, she enjoyed simplicity. She was found around the home or at the horse barn. The pets were as important as the daughters. A horse foundered and she made a bed of sand and beat the odds as she slowly over weeks nursed him to his feet. She was generally the queen of stepping up when no one else in the family could. Renee gave herself to those in need. She was a leader in a support group for families, the soft aunt to countless people whose family had them in distress. She enabled them to focus and go forward. She taught English in Literacy Action, meeting a young woman of no English and Renee no Spanish. Mutual persistence over 5 years produced a GED, and now a goal of nursing. Renee always felt she was the true winner of that loving relationship. Renee shared her gift for color and space when friends called about a remodel or to redecorate. Early morning was coffee and design books, everyday. Abstract art on large canvas was her last obsession until pain consumed her. She was willowy and her features unique. Style was passed on from her grandmother who often rode from home on the New Orleans streetcar in hat and gloves. She was an incredible cook of fried chicken, gumbo, Creole, and the holiday table. She also was the worst liar in the world. If it involved spinning a yarn, forget it. Her friends spoke how she loved her family. Renee is survived by Bob, her mate for decades; by three daughters, Ashley, Georgie, and Amelia; granddaughter, Mattie, and big brother, O.C. She enjoyed an extended family of her wonderful in-laws in both families. She believed the value of her beliefs was in extending compassion and spiritual cultivation to others as well as, herself. A memorial celebration for Renee Trammell will be held at the open air pavilion of Wildwood Park at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 6th, at 20919 Denny Road. It is intended as a relaxed gathering, and biking or gardening gear is good. Family will be at home in the Arbors at #25 Vigne Blvd., Little Rock 72223. Arrangements by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home.
