Almeta Faye Coleman Williams entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 66. Almeta Faye (as she was affectionally known) was born in Menifee, Arkansas on May 23, 1950 to the union of the late Elbert and Arethia (Green) Coleman. Almeta Faye confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with the Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church in Menifee, Arkansas under the pastorate of Dr. Matthew M. Smith. She was known for her beautiful melodious God-given singing voice, and her sweet spirit. Almeta Faye was a graduate of the East Side High School (formally the Conway County Training School) in Menifee, Arkansas, Class of 68. She started her journey to becoming a teacher by continuing her education and in 1972, graduating from Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas. She then relocated to New Jersey. While living there, she acquired her practice teacher requirements. Eventually, Almeta Faye would come to call Kansas City, Missouri home, where she remained until her passing. She was employed as an Elementary Education Teacher by the Kansas City School District for twenty-nine years. She had a special love for children. This was evident not only at school, but in all aspects of her life. She had a special desire to see young people succeed, and to instill self-worth in all those she touched. Upon moving to Kansas City, she united with the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church where she was a member for many years. It was during this time, she met and married her husband. They later united with the True Vine Baptist Church; and then with her current home, the Blessed Beyond Measure Ministries. She faithfully served in a number of ministries, particularly the Choir, Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory, her husband, Robert Williams; one daughter, Jocelyn Denise Allen (Kevin) of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren: Kaori, Jordan and Kadance; four brothers: Robert Brown of Kansas City, Missouri, Amos Coleman of Kansas City, Kansas; Terry Coleman and Jerry Coleman of Menifee, Arkansas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Blessed Beyond Measure Ministries, 8800 Summit Street, Kansas City, Mo. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens.
