Dewey Eugene Cook, age 87, passed away May 10, 2017. He was born September 26, 1929 in Hot Springs, Ark. Eugene was predeceased by the love of his life and the light of his world, Mary Laverne Sanders Cook. He was also predeceased by his parents, James A. Dewey Cook and Lura Reed Cook, sister, Darlene Bennett Fields, nephew, Don Sanders, niece, Deborah Prince and precious granddaughter, Roxanne Short. A Graduate of Lakeside High School, he worked in his parent's business, Dewey Cook Scrap Iron & Metal Company until his father's passing in 1968. He was owner and CEO of Dewey Cook Scrap Iron & Metal Company until his death. Eugene is survived by his four children, Tara Flock, Brad Cook (Dana Cook), Wade Cook (Carol Cook) and Tracy Ketzer (Greg Ketzer). He leaves behind 7 Grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his Cousin and lifelong friend James Reed (Marleen Reed) and cousin, Paul Miller (Imogene Miller). Eugene was a founding member of Millcreek Ministries, Hot Springs Ark. He taught dozens of kids to water ski throughout the years. His strong sense of Christian Philanthropy helped numerous Churches, Christian Schools and Ministries sustain and grow throughout his life. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Pentecostal Church, 222 East Grand Ave., Hot Springs, Ark. with Rev. Van Glidewell and Rev. Greg Ketzer officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chris Thomas, Sammy Short, Chad Cook, Phillip Nahas, Joel Newburn, Robby Hubbard and Ryan Cook. Honorary Pallbearers are Larry Alman, Charles Alman, Lee Ronnell, Mike Ronnell and Steve Ronnell. Donations in his honor may be made to Arkansas Hospice Hot Springs Inpatient Center, 300 Werner St., Hot Springs, Ark. 71913. Burial will be at Crestview Memorial Park following the services.
