William Maurice Traylor

Dr. William Maurice Traylor (63) of Marion, Ark. passed away at Methodist University Hospital, Memphis, Tenn. on May 11, 2017. A well-known chiropractor with offices in West Memphis and Forrest City, Ark., Dr. Traylor, a graduate of Logan Chiropractic College, had been in practice more than 40 years. Dr. Traylor was born in Forrest City, Ark. December 19, 1953. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Deborah Chappel Traylor of the home; his mother, Mrs. Eloise Dollar Traylor of Marion, Ark.; his daughters Amy Traylor Oswalt (Chris) of Forrest City, Ark. and Libby Chappel Lanum (Scott) of Sasebo, Japan; his four grandchildren, Timothy Traylor, Zachary Oswalt, and Katy Oswalt, all of Forrest City, Ark., and Kendall Harmon of Sasebo, Japan, and his sisters-in-law, Cathey Wilcox (Jerry) of Jonesboro, Ark., Gayle Akers (Chris) of Cabot, Ark. and brother-in-law, Keith Chappel of Slidell, La., as well as numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Marvin M. Traylor; his son, Christopher S. Traylor; and his brother, Jeff K. Traylor. A loving husband, son, father, and grandfather, Dr. Traylor was a leader in his community and his profession, serving as a board member of the Arkansas Chiropractic Society and having been appointed to the Arkansas Radiologic Board. He was serving as President of the West Memphis Rotary Club and was an active member of First United Methodist Church in West Memphis, Ark., where he sang in the choir and taught adult Sunday school. He loved travel, backyard barbecues, movies and cultural events, and helping others. He was a terrific cook, a baritone soloist, and a quiet philanthropist. Funeral arrangements include visitation at Roller Funeral Home in West Memphis on Monday, May 15 from 6-8 p.m., funeral at West Memphis First United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, and graveside services immediately following at Crittenden Memorial Park. The funeral will be officiated by Rev. Todd-Paul Taulbee, assisted by Dr. Bob Burnham and Dr. Jerry Wilcox. Music will be provided by organist Jamie Corbett, pianist John Friday, and soloists Dr. Trent Pierce and Mr. Kyle Reece. Pallbearers are Lt. Commander Scott Lanum, Dr. Larry Nichols, Jerry Burns, Halsey Werlein, Robert Naylor, Ben Grafton, and Denny Sumpter. Donations may be made to West Memphis United Methodist Church Choir Fund, Rotary International, or United Methodist Church Committee on Relief.
