Hubert Grant Norwood a loving husband, father and friend passed from this world on May 8, 2017. All who had the good fortune to know him during his 86 years of life will miss him. He was born in Siloam Springs, AR, on May 23, 1930, the 6th of 7 children of TW and Ruth Norwood. He grew up on the family farm around Cave Springs until the war. After 4 of his older brothers went into the service, his parents uprooted the young kids and moved to Washington State to help in the war effort building ships. Hubert was left with friends at a strawberry farm in Oregon. After the war, they all returned to Rogers, Ark., where his dad started a successful home building company. After graduating from Rogers HS, Hubert joined the Air Force and was stationed at Mountain Home AFB in Idaho where he met the love of his life Glenda Jane (Queen) Norwood. They were married on January 6, 1952, and enjoyed 58 years together. They made homes in Honolulu, Hawaii; Springfield, Ill.; Okinawa Japan; Roswell, N.M.; Ft. Worth, Texas; and Homestead, Fla. After his military service, they went back to Rogers for a time and then on to Dallas, Texas; Corpus Christi, Texas; and finally back to Boise in 1981 to be closer to their daughter Becky Hamilton and Jane's family. He loved to travel. After retiring, he drove the entire length of the Baja peninsula in a pickup truck and then later on the Alaska-Canada highway in an RV. He always had a smile on his face and was ready to lend a hand to his family and friends. He felt his greatest accomplishment was his family. He liked to say "I must have done some good because none of you are in jail." He had that kind of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends but never forgotten. Hubert, you will always be in our hearts. His parents and his siblings, his beloved wife Jane Queen Norwood and his fun-loving and courageous granddaughter, Susie Hamilton, preceded him in death. His daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Steve Hamilton of Boise and his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Kathy Norwood of College Station, Texas survive him; along with his four grandchildren and their spouses-Patrick and Kelley Norwood, Grant and Bobbi Hamilton, Amber and Anton Dewar, and Ashley and Jeremiah Woodford. His pride and joy was being able to spend time with his six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister-in-law, Clara Norwood and brother-in-law, Dave Davidson, both of Rogers, and numerous nieces and nephews. A ceremony will be held at the Idaho Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society at www.lls.org or Ronald McDonald Charity of Idaho at www.rmhcidaho.org.
