Ann Barnes, 81, of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017. She was born on October 7, 1935 in Jacksonville, North Carolina, the daughter of Willie Lee and Evelyn Lockamy. Ann graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1954. On September 4, 1955, she was married to Roger Barnes. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Ann worked under Charlotte Phelps Director of Nursing, as a secretary for what was then Garland Community College. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Geneses Sunday School Class. Ann loved making afghans, baking, and entertaining. She loved her Sunday School Class, church circle, and visiting with family and friends. "Sit in a Circle, talk, and eat," was her favorite past time. Ann is survived by her son, Mark Barnes and wife, Dawn of Columbia, South Carolina; her two daughters, Monica Shults and husband, Jim of Hot Springs, and Susan Schroeder and husband, John of Little Rock; four sisters, Betty Lou Norton and husband, Kermit of Visalia, California, Judy Weinbrenner and husband, George, and Sandra Ingram all of Raleigh, North Carolina, Kathy Mashburn and husband, Vann of Jacksonville, North Carolina; and brother, Bill Lockamy and wife, Kerry of Charlotte, North Carolina She is also survived by four grandchildren, Elizabeth Konz and husband, David of Tampa, Florida, Mark Barnes, Jr., of St. Louis, Missouri, Jason Barnes and wife, Charity of Okinawa, Japan, and Kristin Shults, of Hot Springs. Ann loved face timing with her great grands, Braxton, Dakota, and McKenna in Florida and Emory in Japan. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Steve Bodemann, Dr. Bill Sorrels, Kim Bodemann and nurses of CHI St. Vincent Internal Medicine Clinic, Dr. Johnathan Stringer and nurses of CHI St. Vincent Endocrinology. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 24 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Mosley and Rev. Zach Roberts officiating. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs, Our Promise Cancer Resources, and the American Diabetes Association. Guests may register at www.caruth-hale.com.
