Joyce J. Slaughter, a resident of Lumberton, Miss. for 26 years, entered eternal rest on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the age of 69. Ms. Joyce was very proud to be a military wife and cherished each and every day. In her spare time she enjoyed doing arts and crafts projects. She was very talented at painting and writing. Ms. Joyce was a very strong woman who had an infectious laugh that could brighten any dark day. She absolutely loved and adored her fur-babies and would take them traveling with her where ever she would go. Ms. Joyce and her husband Baxter made several trips to Germany with their fur-babies. She had such a gentle and kind soul and would take in any stray animals that she came in contact with. Funeral Services were held at, White Funeral Home, 315 Hwy. 11 South, Poplarville, Miss., on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 11 a.m., visitation began two hours prior to service time. Interment followed at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave., Biloxi, Miss., at 2:30 p.m. An evening visitation at, White Funeral Home, Poplarville, on Thursday evening, May 18, 2017, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Bonnie Ivey, her step-mother, Lillian Ivey and sister, Beverly Ivey. Ms. Joyce Slaughter leaves to cherish her memories to her husband of over 50 years, Baxter W.
