Katie ‘Kennie Sue' McFarland, 75, passed peacefully from this earth and into the arms of her heavenly Father on May 24, 2017 at Norton Brownsboro hospital with family by her side. She was born January 27, 1942 in North Little Rock, Arkansas as the third of three children to the late Kenneth and Mary Ellis. She met Edsel Jeter while he was attending the school her parents founded for Horology (watch specialist) and on Christmas Eve 1959 they married. She moved from Arkansas to Kentucky in 2002 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. While living in LaGrange, she attended and was a vibrant addition to the Adult Day program at Tri-County Community Agency in Buckner. In May 2015 she became a resident of Friendship Health and Rehab in Pewee Valley. Katie loved being involved in all of the activities and was Vice President of the Resident Council at the facility. She rarely missed any outings and was always the first one in line for a fun time whether it was playing games, watching movies or attending church services at the facility, she was there. On the weekends, her daughter would pick her up for an head out to indulge in her favorite food- a cheeseburger, fries and chocolate milk shake while listening and singing along with the 50s rock n roll music the she loved so much. Katie loved people and never met a stranger and was a lover of all animals. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and loyal friend to many. She is preceded in death by her parents, her former husband, Edsel Jeter, her sister, Betty Welmer and sister-in-law, Dorothy Ellis. She is survived by her children, MarEva McGraw (Wood) of Crestwood and Howard Jeter of Louisville. Her grandchildren, Blake Gordon (Beca), Dylan Gordon, Cody Wassom and Selena Jeter Wassom. She recently was most excited to become the great-grandmother to 2 1/2 month old, Ava Mae. She is also survived by her brother, Donald Ellis and her niece, Cindy Ellis Lang (Walt) of North Little Rock, and niece, Rita Dettmer (Randy) and nephew, Joe Welmer of Indiana. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 3rd at Northeast Christian Church located at 9900 Brownsboro Road, Louisville, Ky. Katie's remains will be placed next her former husband and father of her children, at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Immediately after the memorial service the family will continue to remember her with a cheeseburger and chocolate cake lunch at the home of her daughter, MarEva. The family would like to express their gratitude to the team of medical professionals at Norton Brownsboro hospital and all you did for Katie. Additionally, a huge heartfelt thank you to the staff at Friendship Health and Rehab in Pewee Valley. Mother LOVED living there and loved the nursing staff on the South wing. They were not only her caregivers but her friends too and they loved her just as much as she did them.
