Ida Kathryn Stevenson, 82, of Little Rock, died peacefully in her home, her husband at her side, on October 28, 2017. She was the daughter of David Christian Calhoun and Minarose Heinsheimer Calhoun, who preceded her in death, along with her sister, Diane Calhoun Pearson. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Wesley E. Stevenson; daughter, Lisa K. Thompson and husband, Charles; granddaughter, Kimberly Dove and husband, Daniel; grandson, Steven Charles Thompson; sister, Virginia Calhoun Cross; and a host of nephews and nieces. Mrs. Stevenson graduated from Little Rock High School, attended Little Rock Junior College and the University of Arkansas. Her husband-to-be, a senior at the University, talked her into marrying him (to her delight) instead of returning to the University. They spent their first year in Indianapolis, Indiana, where Lieutenant Stevenson was stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison. After two years, they moved to and lived several years in Houston, Texas where their daughter was born. What a happy day it was for their families in Little Rock when the family returned in 1961. Ida announced she had been "born again." Her two sisters pondered what that meant. They began their own personal search for God and within two years, they, too, had been "born again," their lives forever changed and transformed by Jesus Christ. The service will be Saturday, November 4 at 11 a.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), followed by interment at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, Ark. 72116. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, (501) 224-2200. Mrs. Stevenson's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
