Alphia Sanders Wilkerson

ALPHIA ADELL SANDERS WILKERSON, 87, of Little Rock, Ark., passed away peacefully on Nov. 1, 2017. She was a lifelong member of the Church of God In Christ. One of the most treasured awards she received was the membership medallion in 2001 for over 50 years in the church. Mrs. Wilkerson held numerous positions including District YPWW Chairlady, Arkansas First Jurisdiction Sun Shine President, President of Pine Bluff District #1 Young Women Christian Council, VBS and Sunday School Teacher. She served in numerous capacities, and was willing to assist wherever she was needed. In 1973, she and her family along with others became the founding members of Greater Trinity COGIC. In Jan. 2009, she united with Faith Temple Deliverance Church of God in Christ; Pastored by Elder Ronald C. Wilkerson, her son. Her parents, three sisters, and oldest son, Larry, preceded her in death. Her survivors are her loving, devoted and committed husband, Walter J. Wilkerson, Jr.; daughter, Gwendolyn Williams of Dallas, Texas; sons, Walter Wilkerson III, Ronald (Carolyn) Wilkerson, Daryl (Shelia) Wilkerson and Anthony Wilkerson all of Little Rock; Ark.; sisters, Addie Randall of Muskegon, Mich., and Delores Sanders of Las Vegas, Nev.; 27 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be on Tues., Nov. 14, 2017, 11 a.m. at Greater Trinity Church, 2400 Wright Ave. Little Rock, Ark. Interment will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 Maryland Ave., North Little Rock, Ark. Family visitation: Mon. Nov. 13, 2017, 6-7 p.m. at the church.
