Harvey Martin Skorcz, 79, of Sheridan, Arkansas passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, surrounded by members of his family after a lengthy illness. Harvey was born June 2, 1938, to the late Mark Jerome Skorcz and Lexie Brewer Skorcz. Harvey was a retired general contractor. He was the Founder and CEO of Progressive Constructors, Inc. of Little Rock. Harvey was a 1956 graduate of Sheridan High School. He attended Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas, and the University of Alabama-Birmingham. While he was in school at Arkansas Tech, Harvey worked on the construction of the dam at Table Rock Lake. While in Alabama, he did similar work while attending the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Harvey served his country as a member of the United States Army in the engineering unit, serving in Thailand and Laos. Harvey joined Pickens-Bond Construction Company of Little Rock, in 1964. While working there, Harvey supervised the construction of many major projects in the southern United States including the Battlefield Mall of Springfield, Missouri and the Heritage Park Mall in Midwest City, Oklahoma. In 1984, Harvey founded Progressive Constructors, Inc. For the next 17 years, Harvey completed projects for Mr. Sam Walton, who became a personal friend. The projects included Wal-Mart stores, Wal-Mart Supercenters and Wal-Mart Distribution Centers in 19 States! Harvey officially retired in 2001. After retirement, Harvey and his wife Sharon, moved to Seven Oaks Farm in Sheridan. Harvey was a founding member and a devoted member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Sheridan. He has served as Parish Council President and Building Committee Chairman. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Cindy Skorcz; daughter, Misty Skorcz, MD and a step-son, Joseph Hill. Harvey is survived by his wife, and best friend, Sharon Dorsey Skorcz of Sheridan; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry (Rodney) Lercher of Sheridan, and Carrie (Steve) Andrews of Perth, Australia; brother and sister-in-law, Charles Harold "Chuck" (Nancy) Skorcz of Sheridan; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia (Mark) Pollock of Little Rock; grandchildren, Summer (Helder) Donis of Orlando, Florida, Aaron Gentry of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Allissa Lercher of Sheridan; step-grandchildren, Dustin (Brooke) Lercher of Hot Springs, Wes (Alexis) Lercher of the United States Air Force; great-grandchildren, Adelyn Donis of Orlando, Florida, Jodi, Bailee, and Tegan Gentry of Sheridan. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Visitation will be at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan, on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, from 5-7 p.m., followed by a Rosary Service at 7 p.m., conducted by Father Joe Marconi, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Joe Marconi and Father Warren Harvey. Burial with military honors will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church Building Fund, P.O.
