Martha C. Painter, of Rogers, Ark., formerly of Hope Mills, N.C., departed this life Nov. 4, 2017 at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark., after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Mrs. Painter was preceded in death by her husband Hughes Walter Painter Sr.; her mother Mildred Best Marlow; her father Jesse Marlow; two sisters Ann Smith and Eloise Mychek; three brothers James Marlow, Hugh Marlow, and Ray Marlow. Mrs. Painter is survived by four children; two daughters, Syble I. Freligh (Ed) and Carolyn A. Plummer (Danny), two sons Hughes Walter Painter Jr. (Toni), and Randall C. Painter (Linda). Eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. And one sister-in-law Vivian Painter Holder of Spring Lake, N.C. Along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Painter was a graduate of Fayetteville Technical Institute in Fayetteville, N.C., where she earned an Associates of Arts in Business Administration. She was a military wife, a caregiver to her brother Hugh, a gifted seamstress, and a Realtor. Mrs. Painter was a member of the Green Springs Baptist Church in Parkton, N.C., where she loved to sing and was a member of the choir in previous years. In lieu of a traditional funeral service, the family will celebrate her birthday and life June 2, 2018 in Fort Smith, Ark., where she will be interred in the Fort Smith National Cemetery joining her husband of 74 years.
