Catherine Florine Riley, 88, of Sheridan, Ark., formerly of Pine Bluff, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at her home. She was born in Pine Bluff, on April 27, 1929, to the late Walter B. Maupin and Margaret Brown Maupin Cook. Catherine was reared and educated in Pine Bluff; she was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School and Judkins School of Business. Catherine worked as a switch board operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 36 years, until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, and attended King's Daughters Sunday School Class; a member of AARP; Telephone Pioneers of America; and American Business Women's Association (ABWA), where she served as a past president and was a recipient of the "Business Woman of the Year" twice for her Chapter. Catherine enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, gardening, crossword puzzles, traveling, and sewing. In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Riley Jr. in 1986; brothers, Dr. James L. Maupin and Bob Maupin. She is survived by her daughters, Terah Magoun of Clayton, Calif., Lynn Thompson of Lowell, Ark., LuAnn Keedy of Sheridan, Ark., and Kimberly Majors of Paragould, Ark.; three half brothers, Mac Heird of Little Rock, Ark., Vernie "Toby" Heird of Pawleys Island, S.C., and Bill Maupin; one step-sister, Crystal Stanfield of Sheridan, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at 3 p.m., in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Reverend Mike Holcomb officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Pine Bluff, Ark. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Allan Worthen, Tyler Majors, Lance Ferguson, Jason Spafford, Karson Keedy, and Noel Heird.
