Charmel Camp passed away Sunday, November 12, at the age of 65. Charmel was born May 28, 1952, to Clydis Joseph Bird and Jennie Mae Field in Sweet Water, Texas. She was a graduate of Lubbock High School, and in 1970 also in Lubbock, married the love of her life, Dale, with whom she was reunited in heaven. Charmel spent 45 years in marital bliss with Dale, moving from Lubbock to Carlisle, Arkansas, and spent the past 22 years enjoying life on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs. During that time she worked for Riviana Foods, Community Counseling Services and Fresno Valves and Castings, Inc. Charmel's family was her entire world, and she was the center of theirs. She lived to take care of them and relished in their happiness and good company. Charmel Camp was more than just a mom, "crazy granny", wife and best friend – she was a presence that could not be ignored and a light in every room she entered. In addition to her doting husband, Charmel is preceded in death by her parents; son, Ryan Dale; and sister, JoDean Spradlin. She is survived by children, Stacia and Lance Travis and Jeffrey and Amy Camp of Cabot, and Justin Camp of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan, Madie, Macie and Audrey; siblings, George Owen (Sharon), Carolyn Sawyer, Christopher Bird (Angela); and honorary sister, niece, Deborah Gayle Bean. Charmel also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and a host of adoring friends who will miss her incredible humor, storytelling ability and deep-rooted love. Visitation will be 5 p.m. Thursday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel with a celebration of Charmel's life immediately following at 6 p.m. with Rev. Scott Gallimore officiatin.
