Mary Ann Mccoy

Mary Ann McCoy, 83, of Grubbs departed this life Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born on October 31, 1934 in Grubbs, the daughter of Graburn and Elsie (Welch) Springer. Mrs. McCoy graduated from the 1st two year Registered Nursing Program at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. She cared for patients as the Administrative Nurse at Jackson County Health Department for 28 years; in 1983 she was recognized by Governor Bill Clinton as Outstanding Citizen of the state for her efforts, and in 1989 she received Outstanding State Employee of the year for her performance at Jackson County Health Department. After retiring from Jackson County Health Department she continued to work at the McPhersan Unit of the Arkansas Correctional System until she was 70. Mrs. McCoy was a member of Grubbs Church of Christ; she enjoyed cooking, singing, fishing, traveling across the state as a enthusiastic fan of her children's and grandchildren's sporting and school events, but above all, she loved her family and loved to have all them at home on Sundays for a home cooked meal that she prepared. She was preceded in death by her husband 62 years, Frank; son, Bert Franklin McCoy; brothers, Jessie Springer, Stan "Butch" Boyd, Gene Boyd; sisters, Margarit Boyd, Willie Boyd Hall, Odie Boyd Kessel, and Madge Boyd Moore; and her parents. Mrs. McCoy leaves behind son, Patrick J. McCoy and wife Pepsi of Oil Trough; daughter, Cherrie McCoy of Grubbs; daughter-in-law, Chris Sutherland of Grubbs; three grandchildren, Matt McCoy of Newport, Laken McCoy of Conway, and Ashlin Henderson and husband Joey of Oil Trough; brother, Buck Springer of Tennessee; and two sisters, Beth Boyd of Jonesboro, and Jimmie Wells of Michigan. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Grubbs Church of Christ with burial in Ballews Chapel Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. Arrangements provided by Dillinger Funeral Home.
