Marjorie Mae (Sanford) Davis

Marjorie Mae (Sanford) Davis, 90, passed away October 21, 2017 in Bellevue, NE. She was born June 24, 1927 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Anna Belle and Stonewall Sanford. Marjorie graduated from Grove High School in Grove, OK and began her working career in Bethany, Oklahoma at First National Bank of Bethany. She met her husband, Milton, in Bethany and they were married for 62 years until his passing in 2009. Marjorie was very active in the Methodist Church, enjoyed singing with the church choir and sang many solos with her beautiful, soprano voice. She was an avid speed reader and loved playing games with family and friends. Marjorie and Milton built Melody Point Resort in 1956 in Grove, Oklahoma and Marjorie also worked at the State Bank of Grove. In 1961 Marjorie and Milton moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas where they had a grocery store and gas station called Stop and Shop Grocery and, later, opened The Square Peg, a gift shop on the Fayetteville square. Marjorie continued her banking career, working as the Training Director for First National Bank of Fayetteville until her retirement in 1982. Marjorie and Milton moved back to Grove in 1987, bought a motorhome and traveled throughout the country as well as camping with their many friends in the Razorback Campers. Marjorie had a joy and love for life that shone through her bright smile, lilting laugh and sparkling eyes. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Milton; parents, Anna Belle and Stonewall Sanford; sisters, Lora Dewitt, Joan Coale and Mary Bellinger. She is survived by son, Michael (Kathleen) Davis of Tulsa, OK; daughter, Melinda (John) Carpenter of Papillion, NE; son, Mel (Julie) Davis of Kansas City, MO and her many precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. December 2, 2017 at First United Methodist Church of Grove, OK. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. December 4, 2017 at Bethany Cemetery in Bethany, Oklahoma, where both Milton and Marjorie will be interred together. Memorials may be made to a charity or church choir of your own choosing.
