Emogene D. Carter, 98, of Camden, Ark., died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden, Ark. She was born Feb. 17, 1919, in Biscoe, Ark., to William Roland Deener and Comie Cobb Deener. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John McCoy Carter Sr., sister Daisy Eilene Deener Galbraith and brother William Roland Deener Jr. Mrs. Carter graduated from Brinkley High School and attended Texas Womens University and later transferred to the University of Arkansas where she met her late husband, John. They were married May 12, 1938, at Central Methodist Church in Fayetteville, Ark. Emogene was a member of First United Methodist Church in Camden and a member of the Rose Couples Sunday School Class. Emogene's loves were her church, family, golf, bridge and traveling. Mrs. Carter is survived by two sons, Dr. John Carter Jr., and his wife Linda, Dr. William Carter and his wife Alice both of Camden, four grandchildren, John Carter III of Hot Springs, Ark., Jason W. Carter and wife Kate of Fayetteville, Ark., Colleen Carter Allen and husband Andy of Hot Springs, and William Carter and wife Katie of Texarkana, Texas. Surviving great-grandchildren are Grant, Chandler, Liza, McCoy, Edie Jane, Tristan and Aubrey Carter and Carter Allen. Graveside services will be Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Camden. Services will be officiated by Rev. Buddy Ratliff. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Camden.
