Shan Scott, 51, of North Little Rock, passed away on November 19, 2017. He was born to Ed and Robbie Lasiter Scott on July 29, 1966 in Little Rock. Shan was preceded in death by his mother. Shan was a graduate of Ole Main High School in North Little Rock and of Hendrix College. He spent his entire professional career working as a transportation expert in the family business, American Truck and Rail Audits, Inc. He, along with his father and uncle, grew the company to be the leading expert-based freight cost audit company in the country. He served as CEO since 2013. Shan's expertise was valued by some of the biggest companies in the nation. For those who worked with him, they considered themselves incredibly lucky to work for such a generous, knowledgeable man, who was supportive of them in uncounted ways. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves, was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, a volunteer with the Cub and Boy Scout troop at Immaculate Conception in North Little Rock, former Treasurer for the Arkansas USAFA Parents Association and President of the Funderburg Hunting Club. Shan's pure and generous heart was shared within his family and friends in so many unforgettable ways. He had too many close friends to count, at least six of which would say that Shan was the best friend they ever had--all of which stepped up to support Shan and his family during his illness. Jim Sacrey, John Ladd, Dave Kelly, Chris and Lori Heil, John Clark, John Williams, Jamie Harper, and so many others lovingly gave back to Shan the support that he offered for years. He was a man of honor and truth, as well as humor. He was someone who if you knew him at all, just wanted to be around him, as he was bound to inform, entertain, support you, or all of the above. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Joy (Burford) Scott; children, Devin, Sam and Savannah Scott; father, Ed Scott; sisters, Summer (Scott) Bartczak and Sundi (Scott) Petropoulakos (Peter); Uncle Mike (Carolyn) Lasiter; mother and father in law John and Lynda Burford; nephews, Nikolas and Liam Petropoulakos and Jay Burford; and nieces, Basia, Brisa and Brooklyn Bartczak, and Anna Burford. Services will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 4106 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark. 72116, on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 21 from 5-7 p.m. at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Shan's memory to The Healing NET Foundation, 200 Hill Avenue, Suite 4, Nashville, Tenn. 37210.
