Charles Edward Hearne

Charles Edward Hearne, 77, of Fordyce died Thursday November 23, 2017 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. Born September 24, 1940 in Dallas County, he was the son of the late Earl Lenix Hearne and Sally Odella Gill Hearne. He was a member of the Thornton First United Methodist Church and a school teacher for Bearden Schools. Mr. Hearne was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Charles Brian Hearne; and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Purifoy. He is survived by his wife of 48 ½ years, Dorothy Hearne of Fordyce; his daughter, Jennifer Purifoy and husband, Tim of Bearden; two sisters, Ann Langley of El Dorado and Jane Knickerbocker of Bismark; four grandchildren, Jacob Purifoy of Bearden, Magan Dempsey of Germantown, MD, Kayla Stehley of Haskell, Maleah Young of New Edinburg; three great-grandchildren; and special friends, Adam and Courtney Young. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Fordyce.
