Melba Wathall Powell, age 81, of Plumerville, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017. She was born July 20, 1936 in Magnolia, Arkansas, a daughter of J.M. Wathall and Selma Reeves Wathall. She was a Rehabilitation Counselor for the state of Arkansas and Texas and a member of First Baptist Church of Morrilton. Melba was affectionately called "Bubba" by her surviving family. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Powell (Ken) Zimmerman of North Little Rock; sons, David Powell of Plumerville and Mickey (Christie) Powell of Morrilton; sister, Shirley Wathall Johnson of Topeka, Kansas; brother, Lynn Wathall of Round Rock, Texas; grandchildren, Rachel Powell-Eubanks, Thomas Powell, Anna Cullum, Lucy Powell, Mitchell Zimmerman, Nick Zimmerman, Ben Zimmerman, Miranda Sullivan, Quincey Powell, Josh Andrews, and Jolene Weldon; and 14 great-grandchildren. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ben Wathall. Bubba loved spending time with her friends and family and cheering on the Razorbacks. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Brown officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, at Waldo Cemetery in Waldo, Arkansas by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
