Juanita Watson

An entrepreneur, seamstress, baker/cook, Juanita Turner Watson "Mama Nita" graced this earth for almost 95 years and left a rich legacy for her lineage to follow. She was born to union of Rev. Zink and Charlotte Lamar Turner on December 23, 1922 in Scott Arkansas. Her husband of 60 years, Ulysses Watson preceded her in death. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Cherry Hill Baptist Church, Scott, Arkansas under the leadership of Rev. J.M. Oliver. In 1943, she married Ulysses Watson and moved to North Little Rock. The Watson's were blessed with eight children. She attended Scott High School in Pulaski County School District and played basketball. She graduated from Velvatex College of Beauty as a licensed cosmetologist and operated a beauty shop for over 30 years. She was a dietician aid at the Veterans Administrations Hospital. She retired after 15 years of service. After enjoying a beautiful, wonderful Thanksgiving Day with her children, she became ill and was transported to the hospital. On November 25, she transitioned to her heavenly home. She leaves to cherish her memory, Sherman Watson (Esther) and Calvin Watson, both of North Little Rock, and Dr. Maurice Watson (Janice), Odenton, Maryland; five daughters, Beverly Connor (Ezell), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sandra Dickerson and Dr. Linda Watson, North Little Rock, Patsy Baker (Kenneth), Rockledge, Florida, & Charlotte Joiner (Lawrence) Little Rock, one brother-in-law, Harlee Watson, Little Rock; 21 grandchildren, five of which preceded her in death, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, adopted son, Dr. Ralph D. West, Houston, Texas; adopted daughters, Dr. Katherine Mitchell, Little Rock, and Glenda Ross, North Little Rock; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and wonderful caregivers. The Family Hour will be held at New Hope Baptist Church, 1821 Edmonds Street, North Little Rock, Friday, December 1, at 6:30-8 p.m. The Celebration Service will be held on Saturday, December 2 at New Hope. Dr. George Parks, Pastor. Services are entrusted to Premier Funeral Home.
