William Conway Lawrence, 94, of Batesville, Arkansas, died Monday, November 27, 2017. Conway was born on March 28, 1923, in Charlotte, Arkansas, to George Thomas Lawrence and Parilee (Foster) Lawrence. He married his childhood sweetheart, Evelyn Moore, and they were best friends for 48 years. Upon graduating from Arkansas College, (now Lyon College) he taught, coached and was principal at Charlotte High School. He then began his business career at Batesville White Lime Company, retiring as vice-president and general manager. He was a leader in the Charlotte Church of Christ and served his community as a member of the Independence County Quorum Court. Conway left a legacy of love, compassion, and service to his family and community. He is survived by his son, William Alan Lawrence (Judy) of Batesville; daughter, Sharon Sue Maune (Art) of Little Rock; six grandchildren, Kathryn Scott, David Lawrence, Laura Sandlin, Brian Maune, Andrew Lawrence, and Brett Maune; 14 great-grandchildren; special friend, Ollive V. Henley; and caregiver, Annie Manley. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn Moore; and brothers, Virgil and Doyle Lawrence. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Charlotte Church of Christ with Charles Crow officiating. Burial will be in Charlotte Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
