Elizabeth Jane Cox Barrow

Elizabeth Jane Cox Barrow passed away on September 30 after a long illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest Harley Cox, Sr. and Eunice Futrell Cox; her brother, Ernest Harley Cox, Jr.; and her husband of 67 years, the luckiest man ever, John Henry Barrow Jr., MD. She was born in Fulton, Arkansas on October 24, 1923 and graduated from high school in Prescott, Arkansas. She went on to attend the University of Mississippi where she distinguished herself in academics and cheerleading and was Miss Ole Miss. She left the university in her last semester to marry. Betty was beautiful, brilliant, and fierce in both friendship and enmity. She was an accomplished musician and a talented painter whose works survive along with her three sons, John, Chris and Rob; her two grandsons, Harley and Russ; her two granddaughters, Christal and Robyn; her three great-grandsons, Cole, Reid, and Gage; and her two great-granddaughters, Peyton and Everly. She regularly attended the First Methodist Church in Helena, Arkansas to which any memorials should be sent in lieu of flowers. Alternatively, donations may be made to Presbyterian Village, a truly caring place. A memorial ceremony is planned for late next spring when her entire family may attend.
