Gloria loved baking and was known for her holiday cookies. She enjoyed gardening, giving out chocolate kisses to friends at church and loved being the "life" of the party. When she was young, she played basketball, was a skilled roller skate dancer, sang in a choir, and loved her grandma and grandpa Chambers who helped raise her. She talked fondly of her grandparents often. One of Gloria's favorite times in life was when she traveled across the country in an airstream RV, allowing her to meet lots of people and enjoy the sights. Gloria had a giving heart – she used to make cookies and take them to a nursing home in Virginia. Although she was in in her 80's, she would still say, "I'm taking them to the old people." Gloria enjoyed volunteering at the local library. She also and loved the Lord and was a faithful in attendance to her church. She would get so excited to go to church, if CarolAnne was a few minutes late picking her up from the nursing home, she would go down to the nurses' station and make them call to be sure CarolAnne didn't "forget" to pick her up. Gloria had her share of tragedy in life, her husband Henry (Hank) Maret died at the young age of 45, she then lost her beloved daughter, Sherrie Lynn at only 25 years of age and her grandson Bunky (Roger David) 4yrs. She also lost two of her sons, Richard in July 1986 and Roger in July 2001. Gloria came to live with her daughter, CarolAnne, in 1988 and lived with her and her family (all except 2 years) until she went to live at Greystone Nursing home in July 2016. She was a big part of CarolAnne's children's lives as they were able to grow up having their grandma live with them. She loved being active, rode a bike until she was 92, enjoyed playing bingo (especially winning) and was very active in community activities, ladies class at church, and crafts. Gloria's love for laughter and life was infectious. She had a heart for others and especially her family. A memorial service in honor of Gloria's life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Cabot Church of Christ with Chuck Ball officiating. A private family interment will follow. Arrangements entrusted to Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home & Crematory. (501) 982-2136 Online Guestbook: www.mooresjacksonvillefuneralhome.com.,
